Katy Clark MP has voiced concern over future plans for Garnock Swimming Pool.
Speaking on the matter, Katy said, “I am extremely concerned that there are proposals to reduce the hours at Garnock swimming pool and that in particular that there are proposals to cut the hours for the small pool. We should be doing everything we can to encourage kids to take exercise and be encouraging free swimming rather than cutting hours. I am also extremely concerned about the proposal to take away reception staff which are essential for security and to supervise kids using the facilities. I strongly urge North Ayrshire Leisure to reconsider their decision to reduce services in this way.”

She continued, “Just some of the benefits of this facility include swimming lessons for the community and rehabilitation for those who are suffering from injuries or physical disorders. I would be greatly disappointed if my constituents were deprived this facility and I hope these proposals go no further.”
