Katy Clark MP supports CO Awareness week
Member of Parliament for North Ayrshire and Arran Katy Clark has today pledged her support for Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week taking place from Monday 17th November. Carbon Monoxide can be produced in any fuel burning appliance that is not properly maintained. Danger signs that Carbon Monoxide may be leaking include yellow or orange flames where there would normally be blue ones and sooty stains on walls around fires or water heaters.
Speaking on the subject the local MP said “I believe it is vitally important that the people of North Ayrshire and Arran are made fully aware of the dangers posed by Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Whilst many may not be aware of its dangers Carbon Monoxide poisoning on average kills 40 people a year and injures a further 300”
“I urge anybody living in the area to take measure to ensure that they are not at risk. Tenants of houses should check their landlords have safety certificates for all appliances. Households should get their fuel appliances checked.”
