Local MP Katy Clark joined the calls for an early start on the Dalry by-pass.

Speaking on the issue Katy said, “Over two years ago the STAG report recommended that in order to deal with an increasing volume of traffic a by-pass should be built around Dalry. I fully support these findings and urge that work commences on the building of the by-pass as soon as possible.

The local MP continued, “Many of my constituents have expressed their concerns about the level of congestion and the safety on the A737 Main Road, Dalry. Further to this they are concerned that this has been a persistent local issue for over 9 years, and indeed a by-pass has been the official recommendation for over 2 years.

In the STAG report it recommended that in order to address problems caused by an increasing volume of traffic a by-pass should be constructed by 2012. However, it now appears that it will be further delayed until 2015, 3 years later than recommended that the by report.

Katy said, “I am disappointed that it now appears that it will be 2015 before my constituents will benefit from the opening of a by-pass. They have to deal with the congestion and longer commuting journeys daily, and waiting an extra three years for the by-pass will be a great disappointment to them. That is why I am urging for the by-pass to be started at the earliest possible date.”
