MP Seeks HMS Dasher Information

Local MP Katy Clark, is asking whether anybody has any information relating to HMS Dasher which sunk near Ardrossan in 1943.

The local MP has been working with local resident John Steele, to try to obtain as much information as possible from the Ministry of Defence about a number of bodies of victims which it is believed were buried in unmarked graves in the Ardrossan area.

The local MP said “It is believed that there were some twenty six, identifiable bodies, which may have been buried in unmarked graves perhaps at a muster station in the docks area at Ardrossan. A lot of work has been done to try and recover information about what happened but we have still not got to the bottom of the mystery and those who lost loved ones have still not found out the truth.”

The local MP is asking anyone locally who has any information about what happened at the time to contact her office to try to resolve this long kept secret mystery. “There are a number of family members still alive, who would find it great comfort to know where their loved ones are buried.”
