Katy Clark MP is encouraging people in North Ayrshire and Arran to buy fairtrade cosmetics and toiletries that are now available in shops across the country.
Katy, who has given her support to the Fairtrade movement in the past, welcomed the news that 57 new fairtrade certified products including lip balms, face masks and shower gels will be on sale at stores such as Boots and Lush.
Katy said, “I welcome the launch of fairtrade certified cosmetic range. 31% of people in Britain have said that they are interested in buying cosmetics with the fairtrade mark and this bodes well for the success of the range.”
“I would encourage the people of North Ayrshire and Arran to buy fairtrade products when they can. Our shopping habits can make a real difference. Fairtrade helps support 7.5m people in the developing world and a successful cosmetic range would ensure that the fairtrade organisation can continue to offer its support to the worlds poorest people.”
