Katy Backs NHS

North Ayrshire and Arran MP Katy Clark has defended the invaluable service that the NHS provides in light of recent criticisms from leading Conservative Politicians.

David Hannan MEP has travelled to the United States to take part in the debate over a proposed national health service. During an interview for American channel Fox Mr Hannan labelled the NHS a 'sixty year mistake' that is outdated, unfair and should be scrapped.

Despite David Cameron insisting that his part stand 'full square behind the NHS' newspaper reports over the weekend highlighted that senior Conservative shadow cabinet ministers have described the NHS as 'no longer relevant in the 21st century'.

Katy said, "I am very proud of the NHS and the great work that its 1.4million workers do. It is an insult that senior Conservative politicians have ridiculed the NHS. The NHS provides quality health care for everybody no matter their wealth. To scrap universal health care in Britain would be a huge mistake but these attacks highlight what a disaster it would be if the Tories were re elected."

"I am writing to Philip Lardner, the Conservative candidate for North Ayrshire and Arran for the next Westminster election, to ask for his views on the NHS. With these views on the NHS coming out of the Conservative party it is important that Philips own views are known."
