North Ayrshire and Arran MP Katy Clark says that Largs thoroughly deserved the recognition after the news broke that the town had won the prestigious Silver Gilt Medal from Beautiful Scotland in the Coastal Resort category.

Beautiful Scotland is an environmental campaign for communities working to improve and enhance their local area. Judging criteria includes seasonal and permanent planting, sustainability and public participation in fighting against litter and graffiti.

Katy said, "This award is well deserved. I am delighted that Largs has received this recognition as a beautiful coastal town.
The judges acknowledged the great work done by the local community in meeting the judging criteria and I would like to offer my congratulations for all the hard work put in to maintain Largs' beautiful exterior. We all know we want more done to improve and regenerate the town but this is great news. "
